Firstly, you need to tone your body and avoid being obese. You should have strong hands and flexible wrist. Check as to which ball suits you well and gets prompt release. If you zero in on the bowl, personalize it. Wear right footwear (static on one and slider on other feet) and comfortable and breathable gloves.
The ten pins are placed equilaterally on the other end in span of 4, 3, 2 and 1. If you are right handed, aim for 1, 3, 5 and 9 pins (pins are numbered for facility). If you are left handed, pins 1, 2, 5 and 8 are the right aim for you. To be the champion, you have to floor all ten pins in one shot. Thus constant practice is necessary.
You also need to practice sliding your feet while releasing the ball which is heavy enough. Perfect your body position while releasing the ball. The eventual pressure on your joints and pelvic muscles should not be testing. Keep a tab on posture of opponents if they are faring well.
